Job description

We are currently looking for postdocs with great interest in networked control systems and a strong background in applied mathematics, control theory, machine learning, and related areas. The successful candidates will join a project on developing novel mathematical and computational tools for the fundamental understanding and engineering design of emerging networked control systems, with a particular focus on learning, understanding complex decision-making dynamics from big data, and optimization of networked cyber-physical human systems.

The workplace

The Division of Decision and Control Systems conducts fundamental research in networked control systems, control, machine learning, system identification, and learning and optimization of cyber-physical-human systems. Industrial projects involve partners such as ABB, Ericsson, and Scania. A major part of the research is conducted in EU projects in collaboration with European industry and universities. We have a large academic network and collaborate with researchers at Caltech, MIT, UC Berkeley, Stanford, among others. For more information, see www.kth.se/dcs.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made
  • A strong foundation in mathematical tools relevant to the project, and a strong background in systems and control theory
  • A demonstrated record of exceptional research achievements and publications in high-impact venues
  • Research expertise and advanced analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively disseminate research findings and collaborate with team members
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Expertise in one or more of the specific research areas relevant to this position

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, three years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
