Job description

In the Department of Robotics, Perception and Learning (RPL), research is carried out in computer vision, robotics and machine learning. The geometric robot learning lab at RPL is now looking for one postdoc in robotics and geometric machine learning. The successful candidate will work on robot learning and control algorithms that build on differential geometry and physics-informed priors to allow for data-efficient and safe robot motion generation and for robot manipulation with strong guarantees. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research at the highest international level and supervise master students.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Research expertise in robotics, machine learning, and/or control.
  • Outstanding research and publication list.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • Very good knowledge of English language (written and oral skills), as it is required in daily work.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Background on differential geometry.
  • Experience with real robots.
  • Collaborative abilities.
  • Independence in your work.
  • Teaching abilities.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
