Kungliga Tekniska högskolan,

Job description

City construction is increasing and already today is responsible for 23% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Electric machines can decarbonize the sector, but we need more knowledge about the potential costs and benefits of electrified constructions and smart methods for planning and optimizing electrified construction operations. In the EFFECT project, funded by Digital Futures, together with partnered commercial actors (City of Stockholm, PEAB, Northvolt), as a student research engineer you will help KTH researchers 1) to gather information about the operations, energy-use and charging of a wide range of electrified connected construction equipment via the Persika living lab, where 12,000 apartments are renewed on Södermalm and 2) to create a digital twin (or model) of these electrified- and their equivalent fossil fuel-based construction operations to evaluate and later also optimize their costs and benefits. The project methodology and use cases of the digital twin are presented in this video. More information is available on the project website
