Postdoctor in causal machine learning for human mobility behavior

Job description

Successful candidates will conduct research in the area of causality and machine learning methods for human mobility behavior modeling and transportation systems with Liam Solus (Department of Mathematics) and Zhenliang Ma (Department of Transportation Planning).  Applicants with a background in causality, machine learning, statistical learning, and statistical methods for transportation research are encouraged to apply.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Mathematics at KTH, which has active groups in mathematical statistics, applied mathematics and related fields. The project is a joint collaboration between faculty in the mathematics and transportation departments.   So the successful candidate will also be included in  the Transportation Planning Division and Digital Futures Program at KTH. The position is time-limited, full-time, two year position starting 25 August 2025 or at an agreed upon date (either earlier or later).  The position in 80% research responsibilities and 20% teaching responsibilities. The position is financed through the KTH Digital Futures Program.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• We seek candidates with a background in areas related to one of the following: mathematical statistics, computer science, statistical methods for transportation research or related fields.

Preferred qualifications

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• A strong emphasis will be placed on scientific skills, pedagogical skills, the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other researchers
• Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality.  

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
