School of Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH

Job description

The microstructure of materials produced by additive manufacturing (AM) is governed by a complex interplay between alloy composition, powder characteristics, and process parameters. During the AM process, the material undergoes multiple cycles of heating and cooling as new layers of powder are added, resulting in a complex three-dimensional time-temperature profile. To fully understand material behavior during AM, both ex-situ characterization of fabricated materials and in-situ characterization during the AM process are essential.

The Structures Unit at the Department of Materials Science is offering a two-year postdoctoral position in AM, with a focus on electron beam powder bed fusion (PBF-EB). The successful candidate will be part of an international research team and will be primarily based in Stockholm.

What we offer

  • A position at a leading technical university that generates knowledge and skills for a sustainable future
  • Engaged and ambitious colleagues along with a creative, international and dynamic working environment
  • Work in Stockholm, in close proximity to nature
  • Guidance on relocating and settling in KTH and in Sweden
  • An interdisciplinary and motivated research group working in the fields of materials design, additive manufacturing (AM), and advanced characterization techniques.
