School of Architecture and Built Environment at KTH

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Engineer with strong expertise in geospatial analysis and hydrogeological modeling to support a multidisciplinary project focused on quantifying submarine groundwater discharge (SGD), pollutant transport, and the role of climate, geology, and land use at a continental scale. The successful candidate will play a key role in compiling, processing, and analyzing large-scale geospatial datasets, including groundwater monitoring data, land use, soil properties, elevation, and aquifer characteristics. This will involve extensive use of GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) to develop spatial layers that inform both conceptual and numerical models of groundwater flow and pollutant transport. The ability to integrate environmental datasets across multiple spatial and temporal scales will be essential.

This role involves collaboration across multiple institutions and interaction with datasets and models spanning hydrogeology, and environmental geoscience. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation and the willingness to learn and apply advanced hydrogeological modeling tools and machine learning techniques where appropriate.
