Job description

The position includes coordinating, administering and supporting the department's lab operations within molecular biology. The department works with technology development and analyzes in molecular biology, e.g. spatial transcriptomics, PRO-seq, HiC/HiCap and DNA sequencing, and the laboratory coordinator will work together with the department's research groups. The tasks include:

  • Coordination of the department's laboratory activities in gene technology
  • Supervision of the daily operation of the laboratory
  • Organization and administration of the laboratory's routines
  • Procurement and purchase of laboratory equipment and chemicals
  • Ordering and inventory of chemicals
  • Maintenance of lab equipment
  • Monitoring of safety in the laboratory and other parts of the workplace
  • Training and technical support for users of the laboratory
  • Support at the institution's meetings and events
  • General laboratory tasks

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence. 
  • Experience from laboratory work in molecular biology
  • Good oral and written knowledge of English as it is required in the daily work
  • Good cooperation skills as well as a high degree of independence

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience of instructing lab methods
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience with risk assessments and other laboratory documentation
  • Experience in inventory of chemicals
  • Experience in DNA sequencing, microscopy, cell culture, work in BSL2 lab, sectioning of tissue and analysis of biological data
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
