Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow in human-robot collaboration, where the focus will be on creating a biologically inspired agentic HRC ecosystem that mimics the brain’s adaptive mechanisms to enable robots to learn, reason, and collaborate intuitively alongside humans.

The postdoctoral fellow will work on both nationally and internationally funded projects that aim to develop the human-robot collaboration system in the manufacturing sector. The work includes:

  1. Multimodal neuro-perception that mimics the brain’s sensory integration
  2. Predictive collaboration loop that anticipates human actions from historical interaction data
  3. Neuromorphic metaverse integration that fuses neuromorphic hardware with industrial metaverse platforms
  4. Hybrid intelligence augmentation that aligns human-robot semantics, knowledge, and actions to create shared mental models for symbiotic and sustainable collaboration.

The postdoctoral fellow will mainly conduct research and develop his/her independence as a researcher and create conditions for further qualifications. The postdoctoral fellow may also be involved in and contribute to teaching at basic, advanced and postgraduate levels.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • The candidate must hold a PhD degree in engineering with M.Sc. and B.Sc. degree in production, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or equivalent area.
  • The successful candidate has academic publications in leading scientific peer-reviewed journals, preferably in the area of human-robot collaboraiton.
  • The candidate has the ability to drive cross-disciplinary work and coordinate as well as manage complex inputs from a wide range of research disciplines from collaborating bodies across different projects is crucial.
  • The candidate has the ability to generate research ideas and use these ideas in order to create research proposals to secure funding.
  • The candidate has the ability to work in cross-cultural and cross-functional teams, on local and international level. Therefore, an excellent knowledge in English is required.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Experience collaborating with industrial partners or working in international research environments.
  • The candidate has experience in project management with the skills in project planning, execution and reporting are necessary. Having experience from participating and managing large and medium projects is highly valued for this position.
  • It is also preferred that the candidate has skills in programing, AI and robot control
  • Finally, the ability to identify relevant stakeholders and disseminate research fundings among senior executives and stakeholders from local government and large companies in relevant sectors is important.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
