Postdoc in Flexible technologies for industrial heat decarbonization

Job description

To achieve rapid decarbonization of the industrial sector, technically efficient and cost-effective solutions integrating renewable energy sources, electrification of heat, and energy storage are deemed.  We aim to design and prototype different technologies, including low and high temperature thermal energy storage and integrated systems. The postdoc will contribute to the activities including TES unit development, laboratory testing and techno-economic analysis to identify optimal integration opportunities. Cooperation with industrial and academic national and international partners in the energy sector is planned. Candidates must have a documented background and interest in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and experimental methods and activities.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in the field of thermal and/or fluid energy engineering. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Proven experience from doctoral thesis, authoring scientific publications or authoring industry reports (or equivalent industry), in the field of turbomachinery and/or heat pumps. 
• Research expertise

• Collaborative abilities
• Independence

Preferred qualifications

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• It is advantageous to have previous experimental work with turbomachines and heat pumps. It is meritorious to have previous work (numerical & experimental) with boundary layer flows, heat transfer, surface effects and additive manufacturing.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, three years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
