Integrated Resource Modelling for Sustainable Development of Energy Systems.
The subject is about integrated systems modelling where resources use (energy, land, water and material resources) undergoes long-term optimisation for meeting the demands of society as it develops sustainably in interconnected sectors. Open science principles will be applied so that the results can have an impact and inform the planning and development of collaborative policies for linked sectors, national climate commitments (NDCs) and climate adaptation strategies. The subject is therefore largely based on broad, and inclusive stakeholder collaborations.
The duties include teaching and research in close collaboration with societal actors who influence/are affected by the energy transition and climate effects. The associate professor will contribute to the development of the subject, specifically in terms of the development of open and transparent tools and processes for integrated resource modeling. This includes the essential establishment of relevant stakeholder engagement in research projects, which is why the associate professor is also expected to develop his or her network of actors relevant to the research. Teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels is included, and the associate professor will therefore contribute to developing quality in both courses and educational programs, as well as supervising degree theses and doctoral students. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If needed, a plan for developing proficiency in Swedish will be established upon appointment. Contributing as a whole to KTH's goals for sustainable development and climate will be central to the position.
