School of Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Technology and learning

Who is given influence over the future of teacher education? Critical perspectives suggest that teacher students and educators have too little opportunity to influence its development. In forward-looking studies, the doctoral student will explore the hopes and concerns that teacher students and educators hold about AI and the future of teacher education. The doctoral student will work with education fiction and speculative methods to explore how teacher education might take shape in an increasingly AI-integrated future. The work also involves examining today’s taken-for-granted assumptions and highlighting alternative ways of thinking about the evolution of teacher education.

The research group Digital learning investigates how technology can support education and learning. The research group’s strength is that we bring together researchers and doctoral students who have competence in both pedagogy and technology. The doctoral student will be part of the Graduate School for AI and Teacher Education (GRAITE), a collaboration between nine Swedish higher education institutions.

During the spring semester, two additional doctoral positions will be announced within Graduate School on Teachers’ Work Environment in the Age of GenAI and Swedish National Doctoral School in Science and Technology Education Research for Teacher Educators – FontD. These will be advertised on the KTH website

Supervision: Professor Stefan Hrastinski is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission
