KTH Royal Institute of Technology, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health

Job description

The project aims to develop next-generation hydrogen fuel cells for aviation together with industry and academic partners. The overall project will raise fuel cell stack performance, improve system performance, and increase the operating temperature, thereby reducing the mass of the system. Key activities for the postdoc at KTH include experimental research on membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) for high temperature operation in intermediate temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (IT-PEMFC).

Hydrogen-electric propulsion addresses aviation’s climate challenges by reducing CO₂ and non-CO₂ emissions, lowering noise levels, and eliminating harmful local emissions. With Sweden’s goal of fossil-free domestic aviation by 2030, the project strengthens national innovation capacity and positions. The project promotes academia–industry collaboration and knowledge transfer, while directly contributing to the goals of climate-neutral aviation.
