Third-cycle subject: Physics, specialisation Nuclear Engineering
The division of Nuclear Engineering conducts research (i) to improve the performance and safety of current and future generations of nuclear power plants (NPPs) and (ii) to utilize nuclear power in averting climate change catastrophe. The ambitious goals drive (i) interdisciplinary research and innovation in material science, thermal-hydraulics, reactor physics, design and risk analysis, and (ii) development of expertise in numerical and experimental modeling, code development and validation.
We are looking for a Ph.D. student to carry out frontier research in the framework of the following research project: Development of a risk-oriented severe accident analysis methodology and its coupled application with probabilistic safety analysis level 2 and 3.
Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Dr. Pavel Kudinov (main supervisor) and Dr. Dmitry Grishchenko (assistant supervisor)

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
