Six doctoral positions are being advertised simultaneously within the School of Architecture and the Built Environment’s focus on digitalization and sustainability.
Third-cycle subject: Architecture
Through artistic research, this PhD position addresses the need for new sustainable ways of reuse and repair in architecture. Through digital techniques for visualization, documentation, and fabrication, the aim is to develop sensitive methods that attend to material, cultural, and historical values in the built environment. The aim of the project is to advance methods for imagining how the already existing holds radical sustainable futures.
In response to current environmental and socio-political concerns, and with a critical awareness that techniques for digitalization simultaneously preserve and control, as well as construct and rewrite knowledge, this project engages in a cross-disciplinary overlap of methods to make intertwined relationships and multi-layered aspects visible. Further, it examines how we imagine, understand, make, and maintain our built environment.
