Do you want to be part of research that can change the tool materials of the future? We are looking for a PhD student for an innovative project that aims to replace cobalt in cemented carbide with an iron-based binder phase. By utilizing martensitic transformation, we strive to create materials with exceptional mechanical properties for rock drilling.
The project combines thermodynamic and kinetic modeling via ICME (Integrated and Computational Materials Engineering), experimental material characterization with advanced microscopy and spectroscopy, and an in-depth evaluation of the materials' properties.
At the Unit for Structures, you will work in an international research environment, in collaboration with experts in theoretical, computational and experimental studies of materials. You will have the opportunity to be part of developing sustainable solutions for industry and have access to advanced infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
