Job description

The research Engineer is expected to participate in a research project entitled "Earth Observation Big Data and Deep Learning for Wildfire Monitoring’.  The overall objective of this research is to develop innovative and robust methods and algorithms using Earth observation (EO) big data and deep learning for continuous change detection focusing on wildfire monitoring.

The tasks and responsibilities include algorithm development, satellite image analysis, classification and change detection, as well as writing scientific articles.

Qualifications

Requirements

MSc in Geomatics Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other natural science and engineering disciplines.  The following qualifications are required:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics or other natural sciences and engineering disciplines.
  • Good knowledge in image analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning/deep learning and demonstrated programming skills
  • Previous professional experience in developing software for developing image processing programs is a special merit.
