Project description
Third-cycle subject: Physics, specialization optics and photonics
Quantum nanophotonics offers vast new possibilities ranging from quantum communication to quantum sensing. In this project, new detection devices will be fabricated and studied to demonstrate single photon detection with new performances. Superconducting detectors based on nanowires will be optimized and integrated on-chip to realize large/scale integrated quantum circuits, demonstrate detection in the mid infrared, achieve high time resolution. The devices will be implemented in quantum sensing experiments where the quantum states of light will enable measurements beyond the classical limit with particular interest in bio medical measurements. This project will combine designing and realizing advanced quantum optics devices operating in cryogenic systems with nanofabrication of quantum devices in a clean room environment and requires intense work in nanofabrication.
Supervision:The doctoral student will be placed at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and supervised by: Professor Val Zwiller.
