Third-cycle subject: Machine Design / Mechatronics.
The project has the main focus to investigate and propose scalable dependable architectures for Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) as well as collaborating CPS. In terms of dependability, safety, security and performance concerns and their trade-offs are essential. For collaborative systems, it is important that the architectures take business models and responsibility aspects into account. Requirements and evaluation will be performed primarily w.r.t. intelligent transport and manufacturing domains in collaboration with industrial partners.
The position is connected to two projects, one in the context of KTH Digital Futures – PERCy, which focuses on dependability of automated and collaborating vehicles including their interactions with a smart infrastructure, and the other, StorAIge – an EU/ECSEL-project which has as a goal to develop new efficient and dependable solutions for ”AI at the edge”. Both projects involve industrial collaborations.
We seek candidates with a strong interest in these topics, preferably with previous industrial experience.

Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
