The position as a postdoctoral scholar will be within the Division of light and matter within the Applied physics department at KTH. The department is part of the Stockholm center for physics, astronomy and biotechnology. The center groups physics related research within both KTH and Stockholm university which provides access to a multitude of research infrastructure as well as the opportunity for collaboration with a multitude of experimental as well as theoretical research groups.
We seek a highly motivated postdoc to conduct experimental research in the Quantum Matter group at the Applied Physics department KTH. Central to the research project is the study electronic structure and the dynamics occurring at extremely short time periods, down to the femtosecond time scale (10-15 s). In your research, you will be part of a group investigating electronic structure and ultrafast transient states in quantum materials such as topological materials and superconductors. A primary tool is our newly commissioned time and angle resolved photoemission spectrometer (tr-ARPES). With tr-ARPES the electronic band structure of quantum materials will be mapped following ultrafast electronic and/or structural excitations. We have recently developed a new HHG source that delivers photon energies from 10.8 eV to beyond 25 eV at an energy resolution better than 20 meV. The combined high temporal, energy, and momentum resolutions will provide detailed information on dynamic processes previously not feasible to study experimentally. Of special current interest is the development of new spectroscopic techniques to study high temperature superconductivity. The research will also be carried out at national and international synchrotron light sources and in collaboration with other local and external groups.
