KTH, School of Architecture and Built Environment

Project description

Third-cycle subject: fluid and climate theory

The School of Architecture and built environment focuses on the future of our societies, on how our cities, buildings, and infrastructure should be designed. We study growth, technology, and the environment, as well as ethical considerations and risks. Our curriculum and our research are based on several academic disciplines: engineering and the technical sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences.

We are looking for a PhD candidate for the division of Sustainable Buildings. The position is up to a Licentiate degree, with a possibility to extend to PhD degree.

This research aims to develop technical solutions for novel energy-efficient and environment-friendly heating and cooling systems for buildings. Of particular interest is to develop low-temperature heating and high-temperature cooling systems with active and passive thermal storage options. Modeling with – heat transfer and numerical simulations – will be the primary method in this research work. Thermodynamic and building energy performance simulations are important parts of the research work.

Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: docent Sasan Sadrizadeh
