Third-cycle subject: fluid and climate theory
The School of Architecture and built environment focuses on the future of our societies, on how our cities, buildings, and infrastructure should be designed. We study growth, technology, and the environment, as well as ethical considerations and risks. Our curriculum and our research are based on several academic disciplines: engineering and the technical sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences.
We are looking for a PhD candidate for the division of Sustainable Buildings. The position is up to a Licentiate degree, with a possibility to extend to PhD degree.
This research aims to develop technical solutions for novel energy-efficient and environment-friendly heating and cooling systems for buildings. Of particular interest is to develop low-temperature heating and high-temperature cooling systems with active and passive thermal storage options. Modeling with – heat transfer and numerical simulations – will be the primary method in this research work. Thermodynamic and building energy performance simulations are important parts of the research work.

It's important that candidate has experience and interest in heating, cooling, and ventilation systems are essential. It's also important to have proven programming skills and familiarity with heat transfer/energy modeling tools. The ability to communicate in the Swedish language is a high merit.

Target degree: Licentiate examina
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
