Short information about the department
The Department of Sustainable Production Development is centrally located in Södertälje and we conduct research and teaching with the aim of improving sustainability for the future manufacturing industry. Our research is carried out in collaboration with world-leading manufacturing companies as well as with small and medium-sized companies. At our disposal are infrastructures at KTH's Lean Center and Södertälje Science Park.

Our educational efforts bring together programs at both master and bachelor levels. In addition, we work also in other programs and our courses are taught in both Swedish and English.

The Department of Sustainable Production Development is part of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Job description
The development towards smart factories intends products and production resources such as machines, robots and tools to have the inbuilt capabilities to communicate, make self-diagnose, become self-learning and possess the ability to perform self-adjustments, adaptations and optimizations; in other words, products and processes are intended to become more intelligent and autonomous.

The research group in dependability within the department of sustainable production development is offering a researcher position focusing on operation and maintenance of advanced manufacturing systems. The successful candidate will join a research group that is focusing on novel design methodologies for identification and controlling of advanced cyber-physical productions systems by utilizing industrial analytics approaches.

 The position is associated with the following sub-topics:

  • Maintenance and operation of advanced manufacturing systems.
  • Data-driven solutions for increased manufacturing performance.
  • Digital twins and data-based analysis for maintenance.

Furthermore, the applicant should also support teaching activates, such as co-super visioning of doctoral students and master student.

 The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordination, planning and execution of research activities with academy and industry
  • Development of applications for research project.

Qualifications
The candidate must hold a PhD degree (in mechanical engineering, production engineering, engineering physics or equivalent areas) with a specialization in maintenance and operation of manufacturing systems.

We are looking for a strongly motivated person, who is able to work independently, as well as within a research group. The successful applicant should have an outstanding research and publication record. Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills are a requirement. Excellent command of English orally and in writing is required.

Meritorious 
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to strong candidates in the areas of data-driven decision support and maintenance prioritization. Special attention will also be given to if the candidate has previous participation in EU research projects and proposal writing skills.
