The current position is within the Competence Center Hero-m 2 Innovation, a research center at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering working on hierarchical modelling and materials design. Specifically, you will work in a materials design project on hard metals with the aim to develop a new class of Co-free cemented carbides, i.e. Co is to be replaced with an alternative binder phase since it can be harmful to health and is often produced in conflict areas. The research in this project is dedicated to the development of modelling tools and knowledge for understanding the microstructural evolution of the multi-phase material during processing and in service for being able to predict the final properties, i.e. hardness and toughness. These modelling tools will be integrated with other modelling tools for the design of new cemented carbides.
