Subject description

The subject encompasses entrepreneurship in industrial and enterprise-based transitions with a focus on processes for start-ups and managing new businesses. This includes entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, technology-based entrepreneurship, business model innovation, and innovation management in different businesses, companies and societal functions.

Duties                                                                                                           

The associate professor is expected to mainly commit their full-time work towards education in basic and advanced level (first and second cycle) as well as supervision of doctoral students (third cycle). The associate professor is expected to develop their research field and work actively to finance this research. It is essential for the department that the associate professor participates in development of the research field of industrial economics and management by contributing with technology-based entrepreneurship in multidisciplinary research and joint educational efforts. Duties include participation in the department’s development work and assignments that are expected from faculty at universities. The associate professor is also expected to work towards KTH’s goals for sustainability, gender equality, diversity, and equal opportunities. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years and will be offered training in Swedish. There will be teaching outside the department and KTH, in our commitment to the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES).

Eligibility

Those qualified for appointment as an associate professor are persons who have:

  1. been awarded a Ph.D. or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value given the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve, and
  2. demonstrated teaching expertise.

 

Grounds of assessment


The assessment criteria for appointment as an associate professor at KTH shall be the degree of expertise required to qualify for employment. In addition, the assessment criteria stated in the KTH appointments procedure, section 1.2., apply concerning the employment profile laid down.

Of highest importance is that the applicant has

  • research expertise in the subject field demonstrated through publications in high-ranked journals and active participation in conferences in the subject field. It is also of the highest importance to demonstrate a capability to obtain research funding.
  • teaching skills in the subject field include education of high quality, of significant volume, in the first and second cycle within the subject field.

Of second highest importance that the applicant has

  • expertise to develop and lead activities and staff and
  • collaboration skills.

It is also important that the applicant has

  • the ability to pursue third-stream activities and also provide information about research and development work,
  • knowledge of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality and
  • administrative expertise.
