Rail Traffic Operations and Control.
The subject mainly includes tactical and operational analysis, planning and development of technology, processes and systems for traffic management, control and operation of rail traffic, including railways, subways and tramways and other track systems for passenger or freight transport. Areas that can be included are traffic management and traffic control systems, punctuality and capacity, signalling systems and safety, and maintenance of tracks and systems connected to traffic.
The associate professor is expected to teach in rail traffic operations and control at the first-, second- and third-cycle levels. This involves, among other things, serving as course-responsible teacher and examiner, developing courses and supervising degree projects. Administrative tasks are also included. Other important tasks are conducting research in the subject area, being the main supervisor and assistant supervisor for doctoral students, as well as developing KTH's research, applying for research funds and being a project manager. The associate professor is further expected to collaborate both within KTH's academic environments related to research and teaching and with societal actors in the industry. The associate professor is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years. If necessary, a language plan will be established to assist in this at the time of appointment.
