Job description

Centre X, a strategic collaboration between KTH, Chalmers, Scania, and AB Volvo, is looking for a research engineer to drive the development of advanced manufacturing solutions for next generation powertrains.

In this role, you'll work closely with researchers and engineers in cross functional teams, focusing on machining centres and processes. You'll plan and conduct experiments, program machines, and develop digital solutions for data collection and analysis. Your responsibilities will include selecting appropriate measuring instruments to ensure accurate and efficient data flow throughout the process.

Control systems and digitalization are key to enhancing machine performance and operational reliability. You will work on optimizing machine control systems and integrate connected systems to support real-time data collection, communication, and decision-making.

As part of this position, you’ll also contribute to lab development, establishing procedures and guidelines to ensure high standards in all operations. You'll mentor students and contribute to laboratory exercises, gaining experience in both research and education.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) in the research subject or equivalent competence.
  • Master of Science or Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive theoretical and practical experience from working with machine tools and control systems, machining processes and industrial measurement technology.
  • Be able to plan and carry out experiments
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, since this is required in the daily work.

Preferred qualifications

  • Industrial data analysis
  • Experience in leading operations in a manufacturing lab
  • Work with education at university level
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • As a person you are independent with the ability to take initiative, and you should also have collaborative abilities 

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment
