Job description

We are looking for a motivated student assistant to support the preparation of educational materials for a faculty workshop on data-driven methods. The materials will be used in hands-on sessions and are aimed at introducing AI tools and methods to the faculty at the Department of Engineering Mechanics.

You will help create self-contained notebooks in MATLAB Live Script and Jupyter that draw on Keras built-in datasets and examples wherever possible covering:

  1. Linear and logistic regression.
  2. Supervised classification and unsupervised learning methods (e.g. clustering).
  3. Neural networks (NN), recurrent neural networks (RNN), and sparse identification of nonlinear dynamics (SINDy).
  4. Convolutional neural networks (CNN) and autoencoders.
  5. Prompt engineering and data preprocessing.
  6. Reinforcement learning.
  7. Transformer models. 

You will work closely with faculty members from the organising team, receive guidance on content, and contribute to the creation of clean, pedagogical, and reproducible materials for educators.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Ongoing studies at KTH or another Swedish university, preferably in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or related fields.·
  • Solid knowledge of Python and/or Matlab.
  • Familiarity with core machine learning concepts (e.g. regression, classification, neural networks).      
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

Preferred qualifications

  • Previous experience with Jupyter Notebooks and Matlab Live Scripts.
  • Experience using machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with SINDy, transformer architectures, or prompt engineering.
  • Prior teaching or tutoring experience.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
